Valentine's Day around the world
It is a holiday that has taken great relevance within the world culture, being one of the best known and celebrated, with a great economic and social demand,
"Since the Middle Ages, 14 February is the date we're encouraged to show our partners even more affection than the other 364 days of the year" (Morse, 2015), that showing affection for other people has always been part of human nature, that is why a holiday where everyone can express fraternity or love has been able to take root throughout our history. Just a few countries don't celebrated this day especially Arabian countries, because of religion aspects.
But like in all aspects in the culture, Valentine's day is celebrated in differents ways in each country, for example:
- Chile: "It’s typical to walk around the city and see decorations all around as shops, malls and streets are beautifully decorated with flowers, balloons, and heart garlands"(Brown, 2018), in this country and in the majority of Latin America is normal to see this type of celebrations, also, whith the typicals chocolates and flowers.
- Taiwan: "According to Taiwanese tradition, the color and number of flowers will represent an important message….red roses will represent “an only love”, ninety-nine roses will express “love forever”, and 108 roses signifies popping “The question”…”Will you marry me?”"(Brown, 2018), showing the authenticity that the population of a country can have for their holidays, giving a meaning to the small details.
-Germany: this country have a kind of weird tradition, the people have a standar Valentine's day with chocolates and a flowers, but there exist another type of gifg, "The pig represents luck and lust, and can be given in picture form, as a miniature statue, in chocolate or however one sees fit" (Brown, 2018) . an unusual thing that valentine's day makes normal, only during one day.
Chocolates, flowers and other gifts are the main symbol in Valentine's day, Valentine's Day contributed about $19.6 billion in 2018 to the economy, according to the National Retail Federation (Amadeo, 2018), promoting the action of consumerism of the current population being another reason why this day is so important around the world as it is a huge source of money for companies around the world. It's a boom of money.

And finally the last aspect than promove valentine's day is religion, especially Christianity because is the most common religion and promoves the celebration in the most part of the globe, also love and god are usually related
